OSHA Standard for Cranes
• 1 of 1
• Safety Training
• With: Leading Edge, LLC
2-29-2012
• Wednesday
• 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM
• The New “OSHA Standard for Cranes” Training classes will be taught by Leading Edge, LLC, recognized on a state and federal level by EPA, DOT, DEP, and most importantly OSHA. Course materials include handbooks, mobile hand signal laminated reference guides, rigging safety laminated reference guides, and certificates of completion. Each student completing this course will receive a wallet card from Leading Edge Safety, the “third party evaluator”. The course is designed to provide a thorough overview of crane safety and the new OSHA standard for Cranes. According to the new Standard, a “qualified rigger” is a person who, “by possession of a recognized degree, certificate, or professional standing, or who by extensive knowledge, training and experience, successfully demonstrated the ability to solve/resolve problems relating to the subject matter, the work, or the project.” This class will help in providing the knowledge/training component of this requirement. Individual employers must determine if their employees meet the above standard. The new OSHA standard requires Signal-persons to be “qualified” either by having in-house qualified evaluator assess the individual, or by use of a third party qualified evaluator. This course will meet the standard of a “third party evaluator” for the signal-person qualification requirements; however it is important for individual employers to assess the knowledge, experience, abilities and qualifications of all employees prior to allowing them to perform any specific task.
